Between sculpture and the memory of materials, the young Moroccan artist Mohamed Radi is awarded the Ellipse Prize 2026, dedicated this year to Morocco’s emerging art scene under the theme “The Strange and the Foreigner.” His practice reinterprets leather, a traditional material, transforming it into a sensitive, organic surface marked by the traces of time. He will receive a residency in Marrakech, a production grant, and tailored professional support, along with two exhibitions scheduled in Paris in 2027 and in Casablanca, where his work will continue to unfold.

The Entreprendre dans la mode à impact programme is opening applications for its third cohort. Led by the Institut Régional de la Mode en Afrique (IRMA), the programme offers six months of incubation to young fashion entrepreneurs aged 20 to 35. Applicants must be based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, Cameroon or the Central African Republic. The aim: to help develop more innovative, socially responsible and sustainable fashion ventures. Applications are open until September 30, 2026 on Creation Africa.

A new milestone for Angélique Kidjo. On August 18, the Beninese singer unveiled her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. She becomes the first African artist to receive the distinction, celebrating more than four decades of an internationally acclaimed career and five Grammy Awards. The 2,854th star on the Walk of Fame, in the “Recording” category, honours one of the leading voices in contemporary African music.
