Between sculpture and the memory of materials, the young Moroccan artist Mohamed Radi is awarded the Ellipse Prize 2026, dedicated this year to Morocco’s emerging art scene under the theme “The Strange and the Foreigner.” His practice reinterprets leather, a traditional material, transforming it into a sensitive, organic surface marked by the traces of time. He will receive a residency in Marrakech, a production grant, and tailored professional support, along with two exhibitions scheduled in Paris in 2027 and in Casablanca, where his work will continue to unfold.

Visiting Arles this summer? The Art-Z Association is presenting the exhibition “Africa Seen by Itself” as part of the Rencontres de la Photographie. Through a selection of contemporary African perspectives, the project foregrounds narratives shaped from within the continent, moving away from external representations. This proposal, aligned with one of the festival’s key highlights, explores new forms of African visual storytelling. Exhibition on view from July 6 to September 5, 16 rue Jouvène.

Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann is hosting a new edition of Africa Now, a pop-up dedicated to contemporary African creation. From June 17 to July 8, a curated selection of designers highlights a fashion scene shaped by local craftsmanship and global design perspectives. Featured designers include Late For Work (Morocco), We Are NBO (Kenya), Vanhu Vamwe (Zimbabwe), Christie Brown (Ghana), and Eric Raisina (Madagascar). A showcase celebrating a plural African creative scene, increasingly asserting itself on the international fashion stage.
