Attention culture enthusiasts! In anticipation of the 5th edition of the International Festival of Gabonese Books and Arts (FILIGA), scheduled for May 28–30 in Libreville, the organizing committee is launching two calls for applications. The first is open to teachers, researchers, students, and professionals eager to contribute to the festival: proposals are welcome until February 28. Writers, both emerging and established, are also invited to take part in the FILIGA writing contest by submitting their works on the theme “National Identity and Multiculturalism” no later than March 27. The artists selected for the fourth edition of the Ouagadougou International Sculpture Biennale (BISO) have now been announced! Out of more than 120 applications received, 16 sculptors and visual artists from fifteen different nationalities have been chosen for this 2025 edition, themed “Unbearable Border.” From October 17 to November 20, they will take part in a creative residency, with the aim of exploring new techniques and materials and exchanging with Burkinabè artisans, artists, and designers. Their works will then be exhibited to the public from November 20 to 24, in the FESPACO amphitheatre in Ouagadougou.
