Among the myriad of literary and artistic festivals multiplying across the African continent, FILIGA stands out for its multicultural ambition and its eclectic programming.
This year, the theme “Cultural Intelligence in the Age of Digital Transformation” will guide discussions, with Cameroon as the guest country of honor.
With more than 300 exhibitors expected, nearly 6,000 visitors anticipated, about twenty countries represented, and a multitude of events scheduled, the 2025 edition of FILIGA is shaping up to be a true cultural celebration!
A Feast of Literature
Created by a collective of writers, FILIGA aims to be a grand celebration of books.
Novels, essays, poetry, comics—all genres will be represented at the stands, ensuring that book lovers will find something to delight them! Visitors will also be able to attend public readings, meet authors, and enjoy presentations of literary works.

For book professionals, FILIGA will provide a space for exchanges with their peers. The festival aims to foster collaboration among authors, publishers, artists, and cultural stakeholders. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the major challenges facing the profession. This edition will place special emphasis on emerging forms of literature, particularly digital and audio formats. Are these new formats competitors or complements to the printed book? This will be one of the key questions debated by participants.
A Breath of Youth
While FILIGA is open to all, it gives special attention to young people. The organizers hope to instill in the younger generations a love for words and creation—and perhaps even inspire future careers.
Fun activities await the little ones, while schoolchildren and students can participate in reading, writing, poetry, and public speaking workshops.

FILIGA will even take books off the shelves to meet young audiences, thanks to the “Literary Caravan” launched last year. Organized in collaboration with school principals, it will offer young people activities at their leisure venues and during their free time. Musical readings, storytelling workshops, theatrical performances, eloquence contests, translation activities, and street art are all on the agenda to spark their imagination and talent.
Artistic Expression in All Its Forms
Books are at the heart of FILIGA, but they are not the only stars of the show. The festival celebrates all forms of artistic expression. The schedule promises a poetic and musical evening, two outdoor film screenings, four exhibitions, and a concert.
As for the closing “Open Mic” night at the Institut Français du Gabon (IFG), it will offer an open stage to national and international artists for eclectic performances, ranging from storytelling to slam, humor, and music.
In this way, FILIGA continues its ambition to establish Libreville as a major cultural event hub, bringing together artists from the sub-region, the continent, and beyond.
